The two hadn't inherited the magic gene, but the odd looking little white freckled one had. Despite the urging of his parents to use his powers for evil, little Alistair didn't feel the need to become a warlock and instead chose to use his mental abilities to aid others, which only led to his being ridiculed by his family. He was frequently teased by his two brothers to the point that he was getting bullied nearly every day, which led to his learning to protect himself via the use of spells. This encouraged him to learn more about defensive spells from a young age, which he did by visiting his 'Crazy Auntie Edna' who lived northward.
Edna was the estranged sister of Alistair's mother and a woman who tended to be mildly eccentric. She loved her books and nature more than she loved her family. Alistair felt he was a kindred spirit to his aunt, though he wasn't nearly as batty as she was. That being said, his Auntie Edna decided she wanted to adopt him and she kept the little freckled boy for her own. His parents and brothers couldn't have cared less; in their eyes, they were rid of a burden.
Once he was placed under Edna's care, little Alistair began to learn more about his desire to be a wizard and his abilities. He began to study more and more magical material and deeply desired to attend the academy that was said to bring the sides together. Though the little one felt it was a bad idea to throw such differing views together, he talked it over with Auntie Edna and she seemed to think it would be a great idea, dumping him off in Avalon with a warm goodbye. By then, he wasn't so little anymore, though his light build was enough to cause him to think he'd be pushed around if he didn't find himself a good ally or five. He'd never been the most social individual, but he knew in his heart that he could do it if he tried hard enough.POWERCan only cast spells he's thoroughly studied (as those are the only ones he's actually comfortable with) and the majority of them are defensive in nature. He doesn't need a wand, as he's already old enough, and his magic isn't all that powerful. It's mostly good for saving someone's butt and then bolting afterward. He's essentially useless after a prolonged period of time.OOCtrinityMAGI: THE MAGIC OF THE LABYRINTH, ja'far
